Introducing BlockPress: the AI-native blog editor for Shopify

Why we built a blog editor specifically for Shopify merchants, and what it does that the existing options don't.

If you run a Shopify store and you’ve tried to take blogging seriously, you already know the gap. Shopify’s built-in article editor is a glorified text box. The third-party options bolt on a blog editor that lives in its own tab, in its own dashboard, with its own login — disconnected from the store you’re actually trying to drive traffic to.

We built BlockPress because we kept losing hours to that friction. Today it’s live on the Shopify App Store.

What BlockPress does differently

Native to the Shopify admin. Not an embedded iframe to a third-party app with its own login. Click “BlockPress” in your apps list and you’re writing — no tab-switching, no separate account.

Real Google keyword research, built in. When you first install BlockPress, it crawls your existing blog (if any), analyzes your industry and audience, and surfaces a list of high-opportunity topics — each with real search volume and difficulty pulled from Google data, not estimates.

AI that writes the whole post in one pass. Click Start Writing on any topic and you get a complete, structured article — title, intro, sections, FAQ, meta tags — generated by Claude with your focus keyword threaded through naturally. Edit from there instead of starting from a blinking cursor.

Live SEO scoring as you write. The right-side panel shows your SEO score updating in real time as you edit. Hit the score targets and “Excellent — ready to publish” turns green.

Article Health audits your whole catalog. Once you have a few posts published, BlockPress audits every one of them for broken links, missing alt text, thin content, and SEO gaps — and shows you exactly what to fix.

Why we built it

I run Aromatick, a fragrance e-commerce store. We needed to publish blog posts consistently to drive organic traffic, and the tools available either cost too much for what they did, lived outside the Shopify admin, or required too many manual steps per post.

So we built the editor we wanted: AI-native (drafts in seconds, not hours), Shopify-native (no extra logins), and SEO-native (real keyword data, live scoring, health audits).

How to start

Install BlockPress from the Shopify App Store. The free tier covers small stores; paid plans start at $9/mo with overage capped at $50 so you never get surprise bills.

If you’ve been putting off blog posts because the existing tools made it slow, give BlockPress 20 minutes and write one. See how it feels.
