BlockPress vs DropInBlog
DropInBlog hosts your content on its servers and embeds it back into your Shopify store. BlockPress publishes natively to Shopify. The lock-in math matters.
The short answer
DropInBlog has solid analytics and a polished UI. But your articles live in DropInBlog's database, not your Shopify store — if you ever cancel, the embeds break and you have to migrate. BlockPress writes directly to native Shopify articles. Your blog stays portable.
On features, BlockPress goes deeper on AI (drafting, rewriting, internal links, alt text, SEO titles) and ships a catalog-wide article health dashboard that DropInBlog doesn't have.

The lock-in problem (and how BlockPress avoids it)
DropInBlog stores your articles in its own database and serves them back to your storefront via a JavaScript widget. That's a clever architectural choice — until you decide to cancel.
When you uninstall DropInBlog, the embed JS stops loading, every blog page on your storefront 404s, and you have to either export everything manually or pay until you migrate. There's no native Shopify representation of your articles.
BlockPress works differently. Every article you create lives as a real Shopify article in your store — title, body, image, slug, tags, all native. BlockPress's job is to give you a better editor and better tooling on top of that native data. If you ever uninstall, your articles are still there, exactly where they were, served by Shopify the way every other Shopify article is.
Translation: with BlockPress, you can leave at any time without breaking anything. With DropInBlog, you can't.
